Accelerating Greatness in IoT: Soracom Officially Joins the AWS ISV Accelerate Program

By

Happy Tuesday, readers.

Quick question: What is the AWS ISV Accelerate Program and why may it be pertinent to IoT?

Let’s dive into the answer. (At least, today’s long-story-short version of an answer.)

The AWS ISV Accelerate Program is a co-sell program for organizations that provide provenly impactful software solutions that run on (or integrate with) Amazon Web Services (AWS). It helps orgs drive new business and – per its name – accelerate sales cycles by connecting participating independent software vendors (ISVs) with AWS Sales. It also involves orgs’ solutions being included in an AWS Account Manager-facing solution library to drive greater visibility, prioritized access to AWS’ co-sell support team, and other appealing AWS incentives.

So, back to its pertinence in regard to IoT. According to a recent report from IoT Analytics, 60% of all IoT software is developed externally, whereas only 40% comes from in-house development. Why? Well, device and data management complexities, mainly. The kind of specialized expertise that’s often required doesn’t grow on trees, and there are always more orgs looking to leverage IoT to maximize business objectives.

That’s where AWS – the AWS Partner Network (APN), specifically – comes into play. With flexible, pre-built solutions, AWS supplies what’s needed so customers can reduce risks while building foundational IoT solutions that scale.

Thus, in becoming an AWS IoT Software Partner and tapping the AWS APN – perhaps even obtaining AWS IoT Competency, further validating and promoting IoT partners – the AWS ISV Accelerate Program becomes another option to help partners take full advantage of AWS resources and connections.

This is where the other subject of this news story enters:

Soracom, Inc.

Soracom is a well-known provider of advanced IoT connectivity services. Founded in 2015, Soracom has remained an active player in the IoT space; we recapped its many strategic partnerships with like organizations, its deployment-simplifying services powered by machine learning and GenAI, its configurable LTE-M-based smart buttons for eSIMs and industrial-grade SIM offerings for rugged IIoT applications, and myriad other opportunities the company has seized as it continues meeting global connectivity demands. (Read here for a Soracom story-by-story recap, and here for a bonus piece about its latest IoT-accelerating Plan X3-EU.)

And speaking of IoT acceleration and Soracom, that’s how the dots connect back to AWS.

Official as of this morning, Soracom announced that it has joined the AWS ISV Accelerate Program.

Richard Halliday, Head of Sales and Partnerships, Americas at Soracom, expressed great enthusiasm.

“Soracom’s deep integration with AWS services and functions gives our customers an advantage as they build and scale global IoT deployments,” Halliday explained. “As an AWS IoT Competency Partner since 2016, Soracom already connects millions of IoT devices to AWS. That’s why we're thrilled to join AWS ISV Accelerate and continue working with AWS to drive IoT growth around the world.”

Halliday’s statement is spot-on here; Soracom is no stranger to AWS, and the company having joined the AWS ISV Accelerate Program means they’ll be able to offer an even larger variety of options – commercial and otherwise – with designs that foster long-term customer successes, given the connection to AWS.
