Teledatics and Newracom Give Wi-Fi HaLow a Big Power-Up with New Module

By

Let’s talk about Wi-Fi HaLow and both Teledatics and Newracom.

Worded best by the Wi-Fi Alliance, Wi-Fi CERTIFIED HaLow is the full designated for certified products incorporating IEEE 802.11ah technology. This leads to being able to offer longer-range, lower-power connectivity, and Wi-Fi HaLow hugely benefits IoT because it enables the specific connectivity necessary for powering applications that involve sensor networks, wearables and so on. I’ve written past Wi-Fi HaLow-centric stories about the likes of Quectel, Morse Micro, Silex Technology America and Mouser Electronics; consider reading them by clicking:

There’s the HaLow context, if you will.

Now, the long-story-short of Teledatics and Newracom.

Teledatics is a provider of distributed wireless platforms access capabilities for sensor and control systems on an “anytime-anywhere” basis (and independent of existing networks or infrastructure, per the company). Currently, Teledatics supports intelligent systems in fields like smart agriculture/”agribusiness,” solar, wind and wave power, rover and drone development, etc.

Newracom is a fabless semiconductor and Wi-Fi development company. Its M.O. is trained on further conventionalizing ideas from industrial automation, smart home tech and more with even greater, more secure means of connectivity. Operating from offices in the U.S., South Korea and Taiwan, Newracom maintains preparedness in meeting global demands and facilitating IoT market growth with its offerings.

So, the news:

Teledatics and Newracom have collaborated, readers. How? Well, Teledatics has launched and certified its TD-HALOM ultra-low power and exceptionally long-range Wi-Fi HaLow module, and it utilizes Newracom’s NRC7394 SoC. Designed to operate at the maximum limits set by the FCC, this module enables communication with, as the official collab announcement describes, “the farthest range and best signal penetration achievable with Wi-Fi HaLow.”

Businesses interested in trying out the TD-HALOM Wi-Fi HaLow module should navigate the now-available crowdfunding campaign for the first commercial production of said module; the project’s campaign can be found here. With new steps being taken on the Wi-Fi HaLow frontier, demanding applications involving sophisticated drone operations, challenging/rugged industrial sites and wide-area outdoor use cases can be better tackled with such a Wi-Fi HaLow module that a.) maintains connection over longer distances, and b.) achieves overall better throughput.

“This has been the fruition of a lot of hard work and support from both Teledatics and Newracom engineers,” stated James Ewing, CEO of Teledatics. “The TD-HALOM will showcase the true distance and signal penetration capabilities of Wi-Fi HaLow as a technology allowable by federal regulations.”
